Job Description

Are you a creative and technical self-starter who is passionate about games? We want to meet you!

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Create Visual FX in Unity that range from stylized frame-by-frame 2D to hyper realistic 3D, following Art Director’s concept
  • Use Photoshop and 3D tools (3DS or Maya) to build and animate objects for use in both 2D and 3D games
  • Integrate art into Unity, using Unity Tools (e.g. animation editor), plugins (e.g. NGUI, Play Maker), shaders, and script components to implement the artistic vision of the game
  • Build animated UIs in Unity from concepts and wireframes
  • Take direction from the Art Director and Lead Artist and make changes as needed
  • Be a communication bridge between artists and engineers
  • Deliver high quality work on-time
  • Work with a team in a collaborative SCRUM environment
  • Help inform the team about technical constraints, such as polycount limitations and maximum texture sizes
  • Work with engineers to develop new Unity components as a game’s art pipeline demands

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • 3+ years experience working on shipped game titles
  • Ability to use art tools–both internal and external to Unity–to create beautiful UIs, environments, and visual FX
  • The ability to create beautiful frame-by-frame 2D VFX
  • The ability to create beautiful VFX through Unity Particle System
  • Possess a solid understanding of animation basics: timing, eases, anticipation, arcs, etc.
  • Possess a solid understanding of shaders (not necessarily writing shaders, but knowing how to find and use them to achieve a desired effect)
  • Fast learner who can pick up tools and plugins quickly and research 3rd-party solutions as needed
  • Ability to work with components in Unity (not necessarily to write scripts, but to work with existing component libraries)
  • Ability and experience in working within technical constraints of game engines and editors
  • Understanding of platform features and limitations for mobile devices
  • Passion for gaming
  • A desire to grow your skills and experience
  • Must be available to work full-time at our office in Los Angeles, CA
  • Candidates without a portfolio WILL NOT be considered. Please include samples (or links to samples) of your work

PLUSES:

  • Scripting experience with CG/HLSL, C#
  • Understanding of hardware rendering pipelines
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating an ability to work with a broad range of subjects and styles from realistically detailed to stylized

FULL STACK PROGRAMMER – UNITY

Job Description

Tic Toc Games is looking for a Full Stack Programmer in Burbank, CA, to help us make better games by developing and supporting our back end servers.

As a Full Stack Programmer, you will be working closely with our Production and Design teams to bring exciting gameplay features to life! You will not be limited to coding, but deeply involved in the design and the direction of our games. Every one of our employees loves playing games and creating games.

C# & SQL proficiency is a must!

The right candidate

  • Has experience developing server code from concept to release.

Responsibilities

  • Create APIs & Unit Tests for the back end.
  • Deploy C# code to servers.
  • Help integrate APIs in Unity projects.
  • Set up a Continuous Integration environment using Jenkins to automatically publish changes to a live or test server.
  • Help develop various back end tools, such as:
    • Collecting analytics from the client and auto-generating useful reports
    • Tools to enable designers and product managers to tune and balance the game
    • Wizards for creating and scheduling in-game events
  • Authentication. Ensure the servers are secure and prevent cheats/hacks from breaking the game/data.
  • Work with production staff to identify technical risks and breakdown new features into user stories and scenarios
  • Estimate the level of effort for new features.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Mastery of C# and SQL.
  • Experience administrating AWS or Microsoft Azure servers.
  • Experience scaling a backend to support thousands or millions of players. Console experience a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Able to collaborate with other engineers and designers in a calm, productive manner.
  • Ability to work well in a fluid, changing environment as creative challenges evolve over the course of a project.
  • Strong debugging skills.
  • The ability to learn new concepts and implement them quickly and efficiently.
  • Experience working in a Scrum/Agile environment.

SR VFX ARTIST
Job Description:

TicToc Games is looking for an artist who is passionate about hand-drawn, 2D visual effects to help us make better games by elevating the bar for VFX in Unity.

The right candidate:

Loves games. Dedicates themselves to creating “wow” moments in order to create magical experiences.
Has a critical eye and is able to draft notes clearly.
Communicates well, has a positive attitude, and can adjust to tackle challenges as needed.
Has basic experience with Unity, specifically its Particle System Editor.
Has experience animating using a Timeline and Graph Editor features.
Has deep knowledge and understanding of animation fundamentals, including the 12 principles.
Able to work across multiple styles of visual effects.

Responsibilities:

Keep VFX current by documenting competitive product, leveraging learnings to use in our titles, and anticipate new ways for players to experience games through VFX.
Help the game and art directors establish different VFX styles for multiple games.
Create audience-appealing, innovative and crisp 2D VFX within Unity.
Work with Art Director, Programmers, and Tech Artists to establish an efficient pipeline from mock to implementation to final polish.
Work with Tech Artists and Programmers to ensure VFX are accurately and consistently represented in the game.
Work with Tech Artists to ensure VFX are optimized for mobile gameplay without compromising style and quality.
Train junior VFX artists to raise the quality bar for VFX throughout the entire studio.

Help the vision holder and art director establish the UI for the game. Create audience appealing, UX friendly, innovative, and crisp 2D game assets.
Preparing and designing of all pieces of the User Interface including: mockup options, wireframes, icons, and documentation.
Create audience-engaging pop-ups, buttons, icons, widgets, and other UI elements which display consistently on a spectrum of device aspect ratios.
Work with tech artists and programmers to ensure UI art is accurately and consistently represented in the game.
